Open Letter to all Charrette Participants
Dear Participant:
Let us first extend our warmest thanks for
your participation in the April 3rd community design
charrette. Your attendance and contributions helped make this
event a tremendous success. Thanks to efforts from your city
staff, well over eighty people came out for the session. This
level of participation is quite extraordinary for a community of
Batesville’s size. The community support of this event has
truly demonstrated how deeply the residents of the Batesville
area care for the community.
Our team has spent the past week reviewing
and examining the results of the Design Preference Study as well
as the many suggestions all of you provided during the meeting.
While we will continue to consult the study and suggestions
throughout the planning process, we have preliminarily
discovered a few issues which appear to be a concern for the
community. Among the more popular issues for which participants
offered suggestions include: recreational facility consolidation
and needs, pedestrian access and trails, roadways and traffic
flow, the need for a community/civic/arts center, promotion of
Batesville’s community assets, industrial development, and
enhancing and developing downtown and the riverfront area. (Results
from the charrette can be found here)
Our planning team along with the Mayor,
Planning Commission, and City staff will continue working to
prepare a comprehensive plan for the community. Your
contributions will prove invaluable to us as we move forward in
the planning process. We rely heavily upon your input because
you are the true experts on the issues directly affecting your
community everyday. Again, thank you for participation. We look
forward to continuing to serve you.
Sincerely,
The
Planning Team
